MLPP Programming

Before you Begin

You can use any standard software terminal emulator to connect to the 3300 ICP. However, the instructions provided here are for the Tera Term (Pro) emulator, a free software terminal emulator for MS-Windows. You can download the Tera Term (Pro) emulator from the Internet at the following URL: http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA002416/teraterm.html

You program the MLPP by using both the System Administration Tool and the Customer Data Entry (CDE) facility. CDE is used to program the enhanced login security options required by MLPP. The remaining programming is done using the System Administration Tool.

To program MLPP:

  1. License and Option Selection form

  2. Set the MLPP Application field to "Yes".

  1. Feature Access Code Assignment form

  2. Program the MLPP Access Digit that subscribers must dial to initiate a call at a precedence level above Routine.

  3. Enter a single digit in the range of 2 to 9. The digits 0 and 1, and characters such as #, are not supported.

  1. Intercept Handling Assignment form

  2. Complete this form to control how the system treats various intercept conditions as they arise in call processing. Calls can be routed to the directory number of a Recorded Announcement Device, or to a reorder tone (the default). At minimum, announcements are required for the following conditions: for Blocked Precedence, Unauthorized Precedence, Cannot Preempt, Unassigned Directory Number, Trunk Out of Service, and Attendant Night Service 1 and Night Service 2. Only the first intercept handler (Intercept Number 1) is required for each night service mode. If using a directory number, enter the MLPP Call Diversion answer point DN from the MLPP Assignment form. Other DNs are not allowed.

  2. Program the routing destination for calls when the Call Diversion Answer Point is Out of Service or in Do Not Disturb.

  1. (Optional) Program the SC1000 or 5540 IP Console if using as the MLPP Call Diversion Answer Point. See Program DNI Consoles for instructions.

  1. (Recommended) Telephone Directory Assignment form
    Although not mandatory, names should be given to the RAD Directory Numbers used for MLPP intercepts—for example, "BPA" for Blocked Precedence. This will allow display set users to know which intercept they have encountered without having to hear the entire message.

  1. Program Digital trunks for MLPP. Only T1 ISDN PRI trunks are supported.

  3. Configure for NI2 ISDN

  4. Set "Enable NI2 Service Messages" to "Yes."

  1. Automatic Route Selection

  2. If users require access to trunks that are not part of the DNS, program service digits as leading digits in the ARS Leading Digits Assignment form that will allow access to the trunks. Service calls are sent as Routine precedence level. Users can only dial service digits on external calls.

  1. Class of Service Options Assignment form

  2. Disable the Auto-Campon Timer.

  3. Enable "Call Forwarding Reminder Ring (CFFM and CFIAH only)"

  4. Set "Disable Conference Join Tone" and "Disable Executive Busy Override Tone" to "No."

  5. Set "Call Forward Accept" to "Yes" for devices programmed in the MLPP Assignment form as the MLPP Call Diversion answer point.

  2. Set the T1-619a Signalling (MLPP Only) field to "Yes" for ISDN PRI links that are connected to the DSN Defense Switched Network.

  5. Enable Traveling Class Marks if the system is in a cluster.

  2. Enter both the system-wide and the subscriber-specific MLPP data in the MLPP Assignment form.

  2. Complete this form as required.

  1. LAN Policy (QoS) form

  2. Program the DSCP and L2 priority.

  1. IP Port Filter form

  2. Complete this form as required to secure IP ports on the controller against unauthorized access.

  1. For CXi controllers only,

  2. Layer 2 Switch form – Disable LAN ports 2-16

  3. Spanning Tree form – Set the Priority of port 1 to the highest value (15).
