Field Descriptions

Parameter

Description

Default Value

System IP Configuration

Host Name

Enter the local host name. It is an alphanumeric value and can contain dashes. The name must start and end with a digit or letter. The host name is limited to 17 characters.

The Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) of the local host is generated according to: [FQDN]::=[host name].[domain name].

Blank

System IP Address

Enter the system IP address. The address must not conflict with the DHCP Server Static IP Address or the Range IP Address.

  • Notes:

  • On the CXi and MXe platforms, the address cannot conflict with the L2 Switch IP Address, and it must be on a different subnet than the WAN Ethernet IP Address. When the System IP Address is changed to a different subnet, the L2 Switch IP Address needs to change to the same subnet.

  • On the MXe Server, the System IP address is atlas-ip1 (rather than rtc-ip). See Media Gateway IP Address below.
This field is read-only for the MXe Server.

  • On the LX and MXe platforms, the address must be on the same subnet as the E2T Card IP Address.

192.168.1.2.

Subnet Mask

Enter the system network mask.

255.255.255.0

Gateway IP Address

Enter the IP address of the router on the same internal subnet as the System IP address. If no router is present, enter the L2 Switch IP Address of the CXi or MXe or the IP address of the Applications Process Card (if installed).

192.168.1.1

Layer 2 (L2) Switch IP Address

CXi, MXe and MXe Server only. Enter the IP Address for the internal L2 Switch. The L2 Switch IP Address cannot conflict with DHCP Server configuration, and it must be on the same subnet as the System IP Address.

192.168.1.1

E2T Card IP Address

LX, MXe and MXe Server only. System-generated, protected field. Indicates the IP Address of the E2T card.

802.1Q Setting

Voice VLAN ID [1-4093]

Enter the voice VLAN membership number (1-4094) of the embedded L2 switch ports. This value should match the value programmed for DHCP Option 43 and 125.

  • Note: The VLAN ID range for the AX Controller is 1-4094 excluding those VLAN IDs that would be interpreted as the default VLAN ID 1. This affects VLAN IDs greater than 16 which include 17, 33, 49 … up to 4081. These values calculate to 1 + n * 16, where n is 1 to 255.

  • Note: VLAN 4094 in the CXi and MXe is usually reserved as an internal private VLAN for use with an Application Processor Card (APC). The APC card uses the controller's WAN port. For a MLPP system, the WAN port serves as the administration access port and so is unavailable to the APC.

  • Note: Normally, only one VLAN is required, the default VLAN 1, which carries both voice and data traffic. Optionally, the system can be programmed to support a Voice VLAN and a Data VLAN (CXi only) in addition to the default VLAN. Voice packets from Mitel IP Phones can belong to either the default VLAN or the Voice VLAN.

Use the LAN Policy (QoS) form to program Layer 2 Priority (IEEE 802.1D/p) and Differentiated Services Code Point (DSCP) values.

1

Data VLAN ID [1-4093]

CXi only. This field is optional. Use it only if there is a requirement to tag DATA traffic from the embedded L2 switch ports with a different VLAN ID than the default VLAN 1 ID.

1

Domain Name Server (DNS)

Domain Name

Enter the system DNS domain name. The name should follow the DNS rules as outlined in RFC 1035, 1123, and 2181. The field can contain up to 255 characters; the characters ', ", `, and (space) are invalid.

 Blank

Primary DNS Server

Enter the IP address of the primary DNS server.

Enter the IP address of the secondary server.
