You manage the cluster directory numbers either
through SDS using Remote Directory Number (RDN) Synchronization, or
from Enterprise Manager using the OPS Manager application.
Note: You cannot use both methods together in the same network or cluster.
To use Remote Directory Number synchronization to maintain the telephone directories of the elements within the network or cluster:
Review the description and conditions for RDN Synchronization.
Migrate the network or cluster to support RDN Synchronization

Configure the Telephone Directory form of each cluster element with the remote cluster element directory numbers (the numbers of all devices that require portability) by using OPS Manager. For instructions on how to perform the following tasks, refer to the OPS Manager online help.
If this is a new site
(where the telephone directories of the elements are empty) program all
the portable devices of the cluster into the OPS Manager telephone directory
editor form. Then add each cluster element to OPS Manager in the Network
Element Editor window of the OPS Manager station.
or
If this is an existing site (where the telephone directories at each
site are already set up) complete the OPS Manager station Network Element
Editor window for each cluster element.
When completing the Element Name field, Primary Node ID field, and
Cluster Element Index field, ensure that you use the same values that
are programmed for the System Name, the PNI, and the CEID index in the
programming forms of the element.
OPS Manager |
Element |
Element Name |
System Name |
Primary Node ID |
Local Node Identifier |
Cluster Element Index |
CEID Index |
Notes:
The System Name is assigned in the System Options Assignment form of the elements.
If there is no PNI assigned to the cluster, leave the Primary Node ID field blank.
Create a Portable Directory Number Group (PDG) in OPS Manager for the cluster.
Add the cluster elements to the PDN group.
In the distribution listing for each element, change the element name to the PDG name.
If you are implementing Resiliency within the cluster, enter the MAC editor work form in OPS Manager and assign a secondary controller to each device that you want to make resilient.
If this is a new site,
perform a Full Propagate to distribute the directory numbers to all elements
in the cluster.
OR
If this is an existing site, perform a Changes Propagate to distribute
the changes (delta) to all elements in the cluster.
Proceed to Review the Remote Directory Assignment forms.
