About IP User and Device Licenses

Overview:

A resilient user is a single user whose phone can be supported by either a primary of secondary controller. A resilient user requires both a user license and a device license on the primary controller, but only a device license on the secondary controller.

You require IP device licenses for

License Limits

The following two scenarios apply to License Limits:

CAUTION: The maximum number of active IP devices for any controller (CX, CXi, MX, or LX) is not enforced by the system software. For example, you could program a CX controller with 700 IP devices; however, the CX controller might be provisioned to support only 100 active IP devices. An active device is defined as a device that is registered with the system and is using system resources (off-hook). If the number of active IP devices exceeds the controller's capacity, those IP devices exceeding the capacity will not receive service. Refer to the 3300 ICP Engineering Guidelines for provisioning rules.

700-License Limit

You can program up to 700 IP devices and 750 voice mail licenses on a controller.

The controller has a 700 PLID limit. Since each programmed IP device (or hot desk user) requires one PLID on the controller, the number of IP sets and hot desk users cannot exceed 700.

The number of device and user licenses depends on the configuration.

Some examples:

5600-License Limit

You can program up to 1400 Active IP devices and up to 5600 Configurable IP devices. Also 750 voice mail licenses can be programmed on a controller (see About 1400-User Systems).

The controller has a 5600 PLID limit. Since each programmed IP device (or hot desk user) requires one PLID on the controller, the number of Configurable IP sets and hot desk users cannot exceed 5600.

The number of device and user licenses depends on the configuration.
